Law of Attraction: Do affirmations lead us to self-delusion?
I heard a personal development coach say that “saying affirmations are the beginnings of self-delusion” but is this really true?
For those who don’t know about affirmations, they are supposed to work like this:
If you feel fat, you say “I am thin.”
If you feel poor, you say, “I am rich.”
If you feel sick, you say, “I am healthy.”
Each positive statement — you affirm the positive – is typically said in the present tense, not in the future. It is meant to override the present reality, which is negative and unwanted.
But here’s the thing about these types of positive statements: they intuitively don’t work, and they logically don’t make sense because a vital key is missing.
To use affirmations, you must first understand your relationship to Source Energy – which is the Divine within you. And you must understand how thought creates reality.
For someone who is experiencing negative emotions, saying a positive affirmation just magnifies their existing lack vibration.
For example, if you feel poor and say “I AM rich”, affirming will not work. It tends to do just the opposite!
Here’s the key you need: you must incrementally adjust vibration first by reaching for a better feeling thought.
You have to understand the Emotional Scale ( if you don’t know what that is, you can read about it here.)
Looking at the scale, you can see that it’s possible to move from powerlessness to anger, but it’s not possible to jump from powerlessness to joy.
Understanding attraction points
You are living the balance of your thoughts and you will come back to your attraction points on every subject until you clean up the frequency.
If you tend to feel a certain way in a particular situation, each time you come across that situation, you will immediately go to your attraction set point. For example, if a neighbour allows his dog to foul the footpath in front of your home, you might feel anger each time you see it happening outside your window.
Your only work is to bring yourself into harmony with Source Energy, tending to your emotional centre, and then acting from that place of joyful connection.
We are the blissful union of Spirit and Matter, so there is nothing grander than allowing Source Energy to flow through, and then take action from that place of alignment.
For example, if you go out and shout at your neighbour, you just get into an argument. If you can find your inner resource of peace and courage, without feeling conflicted, you could potentially go out and have a totally different conversation.
Self-Delusion is simply this. Not being true to your deepest feelings, and thus not being in tune with Source Energy.
When you are in tune, your alignment is powerful!
Think of ten-pin bowling. If the bowling ball is running straight, perfectly aligned, it will easily strike all of the pins. A bowling ball thrown askew, no matter how forcefully, may hit a few pins but it most likely will miss the mark altogether. And think of how much energy is wasted!
The most important thing you can do today, and everyday, is to notice your feelings in any given moment.
If you do decide to say positive affirmations, you must be a Vibrational Match!
Happy Manifesting!
